On its way downstate, Amtrak's Chicago-Carbondale Shawnee pauses at Homewood station on a fall morning to pick up suburban riders. The standard F40PH is in charge.
She's seen better days, but sister units have seen much worse. The NCTM is more than capable of fixing her up one day.
Hopefully one day this F40 will come alive once again, but for now it is saved as part of the collection at the North Carolina Transportation Museum.

The Amtrak is Milwaukee bound. The RTA commuter is inbound probably from the ex-Milwaukee Road coach yard. Both trains are on ex-Milwaukee Road track crossing the ex-CNW West Line.
