My contribution to leap day. I was able to run this guy down on the Shafter Subdivision.

This is my second BNSF coal train out on the Shafter Subdivision. With three units up front, and a DPU on the rear. They can make pretty good time.

UP 1989 passes threw southwest reaches of The Great Salt Lake. The water here is being used for commercial evaporation ponds. Morton Salt has a plant near by, with a giant mountain of salt.

Time to go to work. The local has pulled off the Shafter Subdivision main, and onto the Ellerbeck Industrial Lead. The salt evaporation ponds are providing a nice reflection shot for these two SD4... (more)
