The Pacific Harbor Line back when they had a wide variety of locomotives and paint schemes!
On the left is PHL GP7 101, built as Chicago & North Western 1589 in June 1952. It later became CNW 4287, and was eventually sold to Kansas & Oklahoma Railroad (Central Kansas Railway, CKRY 4287), before being sold to the PHL. It is coupled to PHL GP9 103, wearing a version of the old Southern Pacific "Black Widow" paint scheme to commemorate its SP lineage.
On the right is a rear view of PHL SD40T-2 51, built as Southern Pacific 8550 in January 1979. This Tunnel Motor is coupled to Locomotive Leasing Partners (GATX Rail Locomotive Group) LLPX SD38-2 2808, with LLPX SD38-2 2801 ahead of that.
There's not as much variety here these days, and there are rumors that the PHL may not have this contract after 2026. We shall see…
