Remarks & Notes
Times have changed quickly on the Kyle. Flashy "new" GEs sporting various commemorative paint schemes and plenty of G&W orange with recently arrived RCPE SD40-2s. An orange unit was hard to find just a few years ago, and an all-orange consist was something to actually get excited about because it was so rare. Let's rewind only a few years and find a scene I'm sure plenty of fans would love to see...now. At the time, the Kyle seemed like a forgotten sidenote hardly anyone wanted to visit. I spent days out there never seeing another fan on multiple visits. Eventually the draw of the unique MK50-3s seemed to catch on in an ever-homogenized railroading scene, especially when rumblings they wouldn't last much longer started to circulate. On this particular day in 2022, what you see here was just any other day on the Kyle-- Cast off second and thirdhand power trundling traffic across slow track on the High Plains.
