Remarks & Notes
The Southwest Chief from Los Angeles is making its long trek East towards Chicago through the desert land of New Mexico. In the background is one of the very few remaining coal trains that operate on the BNSF transcon. This is my favorite shot from my short 2-hour morning on the Western Transcon just West of Belen.

The Southwest Chief is an under-appreciated train. The New Mexico scenery is like none other in the entire system.
