Last Man Standing
AMTK 940 is one of three remaining AEM-7s stored on the Seaview Railroad in Davisville, RI. 940 and 946 are rumored to be owned by the Newport and Narragansett Bay Railroad for use as "cab cars" on their tourist trains, while 927 is owned by Northeast Rail Heritage and awaiting being moved off property for restoration. All other AEM-7s that were moved to Davisville in 2019 were scrapped.
Behind 940 are two ex-MARC GP40WH-2s once leased by the MBTA to combat a power shortage. Back in 2011, 5 units were on lease and by 2013, they had all gone their separate ways. Two units (61 and 67) were purchased by MotivePower Industries and rebuilt to MP36PH-Qs for Orlando's SunRail. One unit, the 66 mysteriously got shipped out west and I'm not entirely sure what happened to it. Finally, two units, 51 and 59, are owned by DieselMotive Inc, presumably awaiting a new lessor, and sit dormant here in Rhode Island.
