Remarks & Notes |
AMARILLO TX Sept 24 1988 — Santa Fe C30-7 8065 and BNSF SD40-2 6786 are serviced and ready to go on the next available train. GE built the unit (s/n 42376) in April 1979 with an air conditioning unit mounted in the nose, 74:18 gear ratio and painted blue body with yellow warbonnet livery. After 1985 it was re-geared to 83:20. In June 1992 it was Laid Up Bad Ordered in Topeka KS. Santa Fe retired the unit and traded it to GE before 1989 where it was laid up pending disposition. It was sold to Conrail in March 1994, rebuilt and renumbered CRL 541 and sold to General Electric in Jan 1999. GE assigned to it to the lease fleet as GECX 8065. It was sold to Helm Financial before March 1999 and renumbered HGLX 541. It was then sold to Union Pacific which rebuilt it and renumbered it to UP C36M 584 on July 21 1999. UP retired the unit on March 1 2000. Roster information from Gene Crosset’s ATSF web site and Utah Rails web site. Corrections and/or additions welcome. My photo. |
