Tokyo Metro has a century of history, formerly known as Teito Rapid Transit Authority. Following the success of the 01 Series, TRTA introduced a series of new trains in 1988. Several train types of this series have retired or were sold to other operators a few years ago, and the phase-out plan has now proceeded to the 02 Series on Marunouchi Line.
