A brass band greets the last run of the Chicago South Shore & South Bend’s old interurban cars into Chicago’s Randolph Street Station on September 25, 1983. The six-car special train is led by coach 19, built by Pullman in 1927. All of these old cars were retired by CSS&SB, replaced by a new fleet of stainless steel cars built by Nippon Sharyo in 1983.
