Time was fast running out for #5371. It was the very last un-renumbered, unpatched Rio Grande unit left on the Union Pacific RR. Fittingly it ran it’s last miles out of Helper, Utah on the “Dirt Train” local. It is seen here one month before retirement enduring a blizzard in Helper Yard. Today, thanks to a donation by Union Pacific, #5371 is on display at the Utah State Railroad Museum in Ogden.
