The rain stopped for a brief moment as CSX N122-29 (Corbin,KY-Newberry,FL/FNOR) is easing through the s-curve in the rural North Georgia Community of Rydal, GA. At the time CSX were leasing two sets of SD70Ace’s from Progress Rail to see if the 3rd Generation ACe’s performance in revenue service and what a perfect way to assign a pair on the Duke Power’s Crystal River coal bucket. Unfortunately, we found out later the ACe’s Demos didn’t hold up to CSX performance standard and were eventually returned to Progress Rail once the lease was up. N122 is on its way to Newberry, FL where the Florida Northern Railroad will pick up the loaded bucket and take it south of the Crystal River Nuclear Plant via of the former ACL West Coast Subdivision.
