The far eastern end of the St. Maries River Railroad ends abruptly on a sweeping curve at Milltown, east of St. Maries, Idaho. This was once the main line of the Milwaukee Road’s Pacific Extension between the two electrified divisions (Harlowton to Avery and Othello to Tacoma) on what was called the “gap.” It’s been so many years since Milwaukee Road time freights and Olympian Hiawathas used to roll through this curve!
