With the Vermont Rail System Northern Subdivision out of service through the end of September for the construction of a tunnel at Middlebury, Vermont, VRS has begun detouring their daily Burlington to Rutland train via New England Central. The detour routes the train over the Burlington, Roxbury and Palmer Subdivisions of NECR, reaching the VRS' GMRC at Bellows Falls. The detours are utilizing 8 GMTX locomotives that have been leased by the State of Vermont. On July 16, VRS southbound detour is crossing the White River on the NECR Roxbury Subdivision at West Hartford, VT.
