| UP 7455 West is leaning into the curve at the summit of Silver Zone Pass in eastern Nevada with a grain train in tow. This is the west side of the pass in the Toano Range and it is nothing like the east side. The west side is just a barren, sloping alluvial plain that drops gradually down into the Goshute Valley to the crossing of the Nevada Northern at Shafter. Contrast this with the dramatic east side of the pass with Arnold's Loop and many deep rock cuts. The actual crest of the grade is visible back towards the end of the train. |
