Picking up where you left off. When Qline opened in Detroit, MI in on May 12, 2017 with six streetcars built by Brookville Equipment Corporation, the first car was numbered 287, as the highest numbered Detroit car that that operated for the then Department Street Railways was 286, a 1949 St. Louis built PCC. The colorful “Liberty” streetcars operate primarily on rechargeable lithium ion batteries that recharge from the car’s pantograph connecting to overhead wire over the line’s 3.3 miles. Seen here on Friday, February 21, 2020, car 287 crosses Adams Avenue approaching the Grand Circus stop, with the noted Central United Methodist Church and the Detroit Tigers Comerica Park in the background.
