A Worm With An Identity Crises. UP 5288 leads a 13,000-ton, loaded grain train carefully down Clear Creek Ravine and past the long abandoned Tunnel 4 on the 5,900-foot long train's decent toward Tunnel 3 and Bealville. Likely the best train of the train captured by our small group, this BNSF SweetGrass, Montana to Modesto, California train had quite the assortment of power not limited to the head-end's UP, CP and BNSF SD70ACe motors. Passing out of this picture to the left up at Cliff, the train's three mid-train, "swing" helpers included another BNSF SD70ACe and a shiny Ferromex ES44AC.
Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
