Remarks & Notes |
Its easy to see what the once popular "Daylight" passenger trains were called 'the most beautiful train's in the world' as they skirted the Pacific Ocean at locations like this. While the days of the massive 4-8-4's leading sleek red and orange passenger trains up and down the coast might be gone, the usage of the same tracks they once sailed over is still a daily occurrence. Ruled mainly by Amtrak's Pacific Surfliners and Coast Starlights, the occasional fright makes an appearance to the delight of the local railfan community - and if we're lucky - during the day. In this scene - captured from high above the crashing waves - UP 8736 leads an El Paso, Texas bound autorack reposition train south as it fills the gap between the miles of blue water and blooming hillsides of the coast. |
