Forty years ago when the Southern sent a train west across the K&I bridge it took a loop to the right through New Albany and went under itself to head for St. Louis. A portal is about all that remains after the alignment. Here the Southern heritage unit pushes I24 (eye 24) west for the push up Duncan Hill crossing over the portal that still has the Southern Railway proudly engraved into the stone. |
