Remarks & Notes
Flying high above Bald Knob, the Bald Knob train is seen shortly after making the 11 mile trip up the mountain from Cass. Some patches of snow still remain from the weekends snowfall. At a elevation of 4,842 feet, it is the third highest peak in West Virginia. The farthest mountains in the distance are part of the Shenandoah Mountain range in Virginia. Bald Knob is the highest point reached by a standard gauge railroad east of the Mississippi River.
