| Even the Depot Has Been Ripped Up I took a hard look as an empty grain train rolls through the historic railroad town of Skykomish which is in the middle of a multi-billion dollar environmental cleanup of oil and heavy metals that seeped into the ground during its time as a GN locomotive engine shop. Many historic buildings including the GN hotel (just left of center) built in 1904 for $10,000 are being moved to clean the ground below. Get your shots while you can - this town will never been the same again. The depot built in 1894 has been moved to the east end of town until the work is done. |
