Remarks & Notes |
The Grove Trolley loads passengers at the east end of the line. This replica streetcar was built in 2001 by Production Resource Group for Caruso Affiliated on the undercarriage of a Boston Pullman Standard PCC car. It is 35 feet long and 13 feet 4 ¾ inches tall and travels on ¼ mile track (which include a Magnetic Flagmen) along First Street between The Grove and The Farmers Market in 6 minutes and 12 seconds. It has red oak running boards, custom-cast brass handrails and fittings, and two spiral staircases. Powered electrically by 52 12-volt batteries, The Grove Trolley was the first use of inductive power technology in the U.S. for a transit system. |
