Remarks & Notes |
Time to raid the archives again. A scene at Doncaster in 1979 during a motive power transition phase. The Deltic locomotives had ruled the roost on the premium East Coast services from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh since 1961, when they replaced the famous A4s and the other ex-LNER steam pacific types. In 1978 the 125mph HSTs arrived and started to replace the Deltics. Here we see a Deltic running light engine to the depot, whilst running parallel with an HST leaving the station for London. We also see th rear of another train arriving at the station from the South. Brits may note the old Commer personnel carriers parked in the background. |
