For the 100th Baldwin Locomotive Works specification photo card that I have submitted to Railpics, I thought I would do this 2-6-6-4 steam locomotive, number 2508, which was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Seaboard Airlines Railway. It had a total engine and tender weight of 793,800 lbs., and a tractive force of 82,300 lbs. It was built in Eddystone, Pennsylvania, where my great, great Uncle Robert F. McKee, Sr., worked as a design engineer at Baldwin. This Baldwin Locomotive Works builders photo card is from the John R. Doughty collection.
Dedicated to my father, John R. Doughty, Sr., and to his great uncle, Robert F. McKee, Sr., who worked at the Baldwin Locomotive Works as a senior design engineer, including working on the design for the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range 2-8-8-4 Yellowstones
