The Railroading Heritage of Midwest America organization operated two days of excursions with restored DDA40X "Centennial" locomotive #6936, with Iowa Interstate providing ES44AC #513 for backup. The trainset operated one round trip per day - west towards South Amana, IA on 9/20 and east to Bureau Junction, IL on 9/21, both trips originating in Silvis, IL. Here, the Bureau Junction trainset reverses past the former Rock Island depot in Bureau Junction after re-loading passengers from the picnic lunch, preparing to take off westbound for the return trip to Silvis.
Although most only provide freight service, regional railroads have passenger operations; not only executive trains but also charity events and excursions.
