Family Portrait
MBTA F40PH-3C #1030 is posed up in the Middleboro Layover Yard with the New England Railroad Club's annual Dinner Train. This year, both of Cape Cod Central's New Haven FL9s are making the trip up to Boston, capped by an ACSES-equipped F40 on either end. This is 1030's debut in its new heritage paint scheme, paying homage to the Boston and Maine, the railroad which the T inherited its north side lines from. Off to the right sit two GP40MCs, one of which is the MBTA's first heritage unit, "the Cranberry," which also originally came about as a result of the Boston and Maine Railroad. Both of these geeps are bound for the Wareham contractor shops, where they'll receive heavy repairs. In the near future, more GP40MCs will debut in similar commemorative paint schemes, as well as the remaining 3 F40s in the overhaul program.
