Remarks & Notes |
The 200th anniversary of railways was celebrated in Finland on a rather small scale but celebrated nonetheless. For this occasion, the class Hv1 steam locomotive number 555 "Princess" was put back in steam after sitting in the sheads of the Finnish railway museum as a static display for 6 years. This was done by the collaboration between sinisten vaunujen ystävät Ry (SVY) and the Finnish railway museum. The class Hv1 is Finnish made 4-6-0 that were designed for passenger trains in mind during the 1910s. Number 555 was built in 1915 by depot of Tampere, later known as Tampella. Number 555 spent most of her career under the supervision of a depot of Turku up to the year 1966 when it was withdrawn from service. However, the locomotive was speared from the cutter's torch due to its fame and nickname "Princess" as one of her drives kept the locomotive in a good shape which distinguished itself from the rest of the class. |
