In June of 1969, Jim Shaughnessy made a photo of a set of Delaware & Hudson PA-1s hauling the Laurentian passenger train along the cliff face of the location known as Red Rocks, in Willsboro, NY. Armed with his photo and the newest Norfolk Southern heritage locomotive in the D&H scheme, I aimed to set out and try to replicate that shot, as close as possible. This train is normally nocturnal through this location, so getting any daylight was fortunate, however only having 3 minutes after sunrise provided a unique sky and opportunity. Here is the CPKC symbol 928-11, a Norfolk Southern haulage train that becomes the K30 at Saratoga Springs, NY, but arrived in Rouses Point off CN as the L5282110, with the NS 1080 and 8112.
