Sunset Heritage In Mount Vernon. MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 1882 is the last of the four weekday trains that serve the Danbury Branch directly from Grand Central Terminal. On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, P32AC-DM MNCW 222 (New Haven Railroad) was leading this train on its "home rails", seen passing the old Mount Vernon East station. During the era when this Olive Green and Dandelion Yellow paint scheme adorned New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad locomotives, trains were powered by overhead wire in this area. The catenary was removed and replaced by third rail more than two decades ago by Metro-North, and the current high-level platform station is a 500 feet to the east.
