At the Amarillo train station, Rock Island F-M H15-44 #401 powers No.21 the Memphis-Amarillo-Tucumcari Mail and Express train, with only a chair car was operated for the few passengers on March 7, 1960. Only two Fairbanks-Morse H15-44 were purchased by the Rock Island No. 400-401 intended for Chicago-Joliet commuter service. Both units were re-powered by EMD with 567C engines in May 1956, and traded to General Electric in September 1966. Photo by Richard Wilhelm, from my collection.
