NYO&W FTA-B 801 units with F3B-A 821 at Mayfield, PA engine yard, awaiting better times on March 23, 1957. The New York, Ontario & Western Railway operated from Oswego, N.Y. on the shore of Lake Ontario, to New York-or more specifically to the New Jersey state line and then to a point on the Hudson River opposite New York City. The NYO&W enjoyed a brief postwar surge of business, but NYO&W's division of revenue wasn't enough to keep the rest of the road in business. Finally with revenues down, operation ceased on March 29, 1957. The assets were auctioned off-the 46 diesels found new owners. None of the roads 541 miles of lines remains in operation.
