For a long time, the CN in Iowa looked a lot like this. Especially west of Waterloo, big power didn't roam much, and it would normally be on unit trains only. With that, SD40's own the railroad. When I came over in 2004, these ex-BN, non-dyno SD40s were the norm. Sure do miss these days! Here, we have the local out of Ft. Dodge heading for Waterloo with western Iowa freight bound for Chicago. Unfortunately, a lot of this power was scrapped around 2009-11. Scanned Slide in December 2005.
