Top Design. It was not an April Fools' joke but very real on February 1, 2007, when the platforms at Grand Central on the MTA NYCT Subway 42nd Street Shuttle were given an upgrade by the reality TV show "Top Design", which had premiered on Bravo the prior day. The show featured contestants asked to create a design based on certain requirements or goals by the judges, with the elimination of one participant per episode until a winner was declared at the end of the ten episode season. The line would itself receive a redesign in 2021 with the rebuilding of its three tracks to a two six-car train configuration.
