CN has started to move some of their retire power to Iowa. Those units are box car and DIT, so CN is still able to load up the locomotive consists as needed. Here is the daily Waterloo to Ft. Dodge local heads out of Waterloo with an unusual big 9 unit consist. The head 2 are for 571, the next 3 will be for an ethanol train, and the last 4 are dash 8's heading for storage. Seen here at West Waterloo as they depart. The track in the foreground is the John Deere lead, and the lead above the train is the North Industrial lead, which Iowa Northern mainly uses. These dash 8 units would head for scrap in Decemeber 2023.
