Santa Skyline. The Conrail Shared Assets North Jersey Santa Train was brought to a new level on Saturday, December 16, 2023. For the occasion, Norfolk Southern 8098 (Conrail Heritage, ES44AC) was selected to lead for the first time, and joined a lighted and decorated (CN) red box car, two shoving platforms and two Conrail cabooses that have been repainted into the traditional blue and white colors within the past year. The train made stops for employees and their families to visit with Santa at Oak Island Yard in Newark, New Jersey and Port Reading Yard in Port Reading, New Jersey. Afterwards, the train took the passengers to Jersey City for a view of the skyline before returning to Oak Island for the night. The train is seen stopped near Gateway Field in Jersey City, New Jersey on the elevated section of the National Docks Line with the New York City skyline in the background.
