Returning from Parkdale to Cañon City, Colorado, Colorado on a beautiful warm day Wednesday, September 1, 2020 afternoon, Royal Gorge Route Railroad's 17 car train (including four full domes) is seen next to the Arkansas River with GP40PH-2 CRRX 728 (ex-VRE V20, née-AWP 728, GP40, 2/1969 EMD) leading. The ride travels across the Royal Gorge, with this train sometimes making several trips a day. The railroad derives its paint scheme from the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, the former operator of this line.
