Remarks & Notes
With a little worn out paint, the cogwheel locomotive HGe 4/4 II # 3 "Dom" of the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn pulls the freight train 4231 from Visp to Zermatt, passing Neubrück in the Valley of the Vispa. In the background is 3934 meter high Bietschhorn, with the summit in clouds. The locomotive was built in 1990 by SLM and ABB in a series of 5 for the Brig-Visp-Zermatt-Bahn (BVZ). While most of the HGe 4/4 II locomotives of the MGB (9 out of a total of 13), were modernised in the last years, the # 3 to # 5 will run without refit for some years still, and # 2 will serve for spare parts. Greetings to Italy!
