Amtrak 14, the northbound Coast Starlight, is just an hour into its 1,377 mile journey to Seattle as it slices its way through the rock formations in Chatsworth, Calif., as it prepares to duck into the darkness of Tunnel 27. Much like the mileposts on this line, the numbering of the tunnels began at Southern Pacific's headquarters in San Fransisco, Calif.
