A westbound Modoc Line train awaits a rested crew at Wendel, California. The exotic mix of locomotives makes quite a sight in the Honey Lake Valley. For some unknown reason, the train has been parked on the branch to Susanville. In less than a month, Union Pacific would acquire Southern Pacific. Today, there are no rails here.
