Two Heritage, No Waiting!

Earlier this month, Amtrak 3 arrived behind P42DC 184 (on the 9th) and then 130 (on the 10th), and today (the 28th) they both arrived again, but now on the same day. The Southwest Chief, running nearly 3½ hours late, approaches its next-to-last stop in Fullerton, as it winds up its Chicago to Los Angeles journey. Amtrak P42DC 184 and 130, each in different Heritage schemes (albeit from the carrier’s 40th Anniversary in 2011), have an 8-car train on this trip, thanks to the addition of a baggage car and a third coach after way too long with just a 6-car train due to the Covid Pandemic. Heading east on the other mainline is BNSF Priority UPS-LTL Intermodal train Z-LACNYC1-28U heading from Los Angeles CA to New York NY. (Placentia, California – May 28, 2022)
