| A line of G&W-Georgia Central locomotives are tied down on the house track at Macon Yard at end of the first day of 2022. We’re at the mile-post 0 on the north end of the former Macon, Dublin & Savannah Railroad line (MDS) to the port city of Savannah, GA. The MDS would eventually become part of the Coastline from its successor the SAL giving one of the biggest class one players in the east a presence in Macon, GA. Georgia Central was organized in 1990 as a partnership controlled by Rail Management and still holds a major footing in this region to this day. |
