Beavers in the Desert
A westbound trainload of Minnesota grain for the Central Valley storms out of Warren, California. The CP motors are no stranger to mountain grades but look a bit out of place here in the Mojave. From my perch above Cache Creek I have watched this train for almost a hour since it left Boran 32 miles away! This grain load has 8 motors for the assault on the 2.3% grade. The mid train DPU can be seen directly above the head-end and the rear-end DPUs back near Warren.
