Reading And Northern. Reading and Northern Railroad 2102 (T-1, 4-8-4) is getting closer to its next life on the rails. After being built a Class I10sa 2-8-0 Consolidation by Baldwin in 1923, it would be rebuilt to a T-1 by the Reading Company in 1945. This engine served on the Reading for a little over a decade before being retired from regular service, but this is when it became famous. 2102 operated on steam passenger excursions for the Reading, Steam Tours Inc, and the Reading and Northern. In 1991, the engine was removed from service, as it was due for overhaul. Since this most recent restoration began, R&N owner Andy Muller has spent over a million dollars on 2102. Its new front placard is reminiscent of the "Iron Horse Rambles" appearance when a similar device said "Reading Lines". RBMN 425 (4-6-2, Baldwin, 1928) has been a consistent operator on the railroad in recent years, and sits in the Steam Shop in Port Clinton, Pennsylvania next to 2102 on Thursday, November 4, 2021.
