Amtrak's newest locomotives, the ALC-42 (Amtrak Long-distance Charger, 4,200hp), #300 in Amtrak's Phase VI livery and #301 in its 50th Anniversary "Day 1" livery, pose together in Ivy City. These locomotives are undergoing testing and have yet to enter revenue service. They're a part of a 75 locomotive order planned to replace the P40 and P42 fleets as Amtrak's next generation of "conventional" locomotives. Amtrak designed a new nose for this variant of the "Charger" locomotive for enhanced maintainability due it being replaceable, and improved aesthetics while still providing for full interoperability with all other conventional equipment. https://media.amtrak.com/2020/08/amtrak-prepares-for-new-diesel-locomotive-fleet/
