Remarks & Notes |
When fantasy becomes reality. The 160 is the first locomotive to wear this livery other than a Dash 8. The "Dash 8" variant of Phase III was created by Blair Slaughter specifically to mask the mismatched body of the Dash 8-32BWH locomotives Amtrak purchased from GE in the early 90s. I showed Blair some photos of P42 models some fans painted in this "fantasy" adaptation, and he put his own spin on it. The team chose this design as one of the retro liveries to celebrate the 50th Anniversary, and was executed extremely well by the Beech Grove shops in Indiana - the attention to detail in the masking of the pinstripes around the vents and recesses is amazing.
