| D&SNG No. 480 crosses the Animas River on a 242-foot timber trestle dating from 1910-1920. In 2021-2022 this bridge, which has given over 100 years of service, will be replaced with a new one at a cost of over $2 million. By next year this scene will be only a memory. Even 480 has changed since this photo was taken - it's now an oil burner. |
