| BNSF train H CSXLAL1 21 crosses the 17th Street Canal, which pumps water out of New Orleans/Metairie into Lake Ponchartrain. This and approximately 100 other flood gates will be closed for Hurricane Ida, projected to hit as a Category 3-4 storm, on exactly the 16 year anniversary of Katrina. Hopefully the subsequent $14.5B investment in flood control will pay off. Hoping the best for the city! |
