Ridin' the storm out, waitin' for the thaw out
On a full moon night in the Rocky Mountain winter...
While it's not the winter, we're under the full moon of a Rocky Mountain summer, albeit, one hidden by monsoonal moisture. Here we see Cumbres and Toltec K-36 487 pull up to the water standpipe at the summit. Ahead, 14 miles of 4% grade to descend in the darkness to Chama.
Pace and pan shots of trains from on the ground or in the air. If you're not in the locomotive cab or on-board the train, it's the next best thing to being there.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
