A southbound Union Pacific coal train clatters across the Conrail crossing guarded by Pence Tower at Momence, Illinois, on September 8, 1990. This tower formerly guarded the crossing of New York Central (Conrail) and Chicago & Eastern Illinois/Missouri Pacific (UP).
