On one of those raw winter days when the draft from the coal furnace at the nearby "FS" West Falls Tower has an alluring call, I am standing at the east end of the "B&O Bridge" that forms the east leg of the wye at West Falls as B&O No. 685 provides an alluring call of its own with a nice set of F units. The train is crossing the Schuylkill River on the final few miles of trackage rights Baltimore & Ohio trains use between Jersey City and Park Jct., in Philadelphia, via the Jersey Central and Reading Lines. This was once the route B&O's passenger trains used before they were removed between Jersey City and Baltimore in 1958, however, there were still some half dozen daily freights using this route in each direction as does CSX traffic these days.
