Bridge to nowhere...This is all that's left of an industrial siding off the former Clinchfield RR just north of Marion NC. The siding served the American Thread Company, now known as Coats North America. They manufacture specially engineered threads and yarn. The east and west approaches were removed long ago leaving this center deck span in the middle of the North Fork of the Catawba River. This view is looking north east. The siding curved off to the right and connected with the mainline on the other side of the tree line. The factory is behind me to the southwest.
